A few weeks ago I got my driving permit. I had to take a driving lessons course to pass, which was a little difficult, but I did OK. After I passed the test, they took my picture and my dad took me to get a brand new car! I was so excited! The thought of myself driving around in a new car picking up all my jealous friends was awesome! My dad got me a new car because he seems to think that women are terrible drivers. I think he believes this because my mother is terrible at driving. But in reality driving is as easy for women as it is for men.

I told my dad, "If you think driving is harder for women then that would make you sexist!".

He just shrugged and said, "If it's not harder for women, then why is your mother such a terrible driver?".

I laughed. "I don't know and I don't care! All I know is I'm getting a brand new car!". He smiled.

We went to the car dealership and I started looking around. There were a lot of great choices! Finally I picked out a pink beetle car. My dad agreed to the selection.

"Now the next step is to get insurance on the car," He said.

I was confused.

"What's insurance?" I asked.

"Insurance is something you get to protect you in case you get into a car wreck," He said.

He explained to me all about what an insurance group does and why they're important. Before he told me, I used to think an insurance group just reassures you that you made the right choice of buying a car. I guess I was wrong. An insurance group is actually very important when you're buying a car. If you don't have one, you could really lose a ton of money if you get into a car accident.

After we got insurance my dad let me take the car for a ride. I could tell he was a little nervous about me driving, but I was confident in myself. I yelled out an excited squeel as I rode the car out of the dealership.
